Natural Springs and Lakes to Visit in Your RV This Summer
The weather is starting to warm up, which means it’s time to pack your RV or camper and hit the road. Visit one of the following four natural springs and lakes around the United States this summer.
Havasu Falls in the Arizona Dessert
While you’re visiting Arizona, plan a trip to Havasu Falls near the Supai village, a Havasupai Reservation. The waterfall is located on the bottom of the Grand Canyon. It takes a bit of a hike to reach the lake and waterfall, but you’ll be treated to plenty of seclusion and an amazingly clear, warm swimming hole.
Lake Superior
Aptly named, Lake Superior is the largest freshwater lake by surface area in the world. This fact alone warrants a trip out to the lake, which you can visit along the coasts of Minnesota, Michigan, or Wisconsin. The area is also known for its sandstone cliffs and beaches, and you can hike to dozens of waterfalls near the shores.
Barton Springs Pool
Barton Springs Pool in Austin, Texas, is an incredible natural swimming hole fed by three underground springs. It’s located minutes from downtown Austin, making it an easy spot to visit while on vacation this summer. Be prepared to deal with icy cold water and other swimmers visiting the site.
Mittry Lake North of Yuma, Arizona
Mittry Lake is part of the Mittry Lake Wildlife Area north of Yuma, Arizona. Stay in the Yuma Lakes RV Resort, which is affiliated with Colorado River Adventures, and enjoy easy access to the lake along with amenities such as a heated swimming pool, a whirlpool spa, shuffleboard, miniature golf, and bocce ball. Mittry Lake is part of the Lower Colorado River and is a fantastic location for fishing, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, and camping.
These locations are a few of the many excellent places around the country to visit this summer. Pack your camping gear and take advantage of campground memberships through Campground Membership Outlet to save money on your travels around the United States.
